Intermediate Accountant

We’re seeking an experienced Intermediate Accountant for a contract opportunity in Chilliwack, BC to support a growing construction organization. This hands-on role is critical to ensuring accurate and timely financial operations while contributing to a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

This is a fully on site role starting ASAP for 6-12 weeks. 

Responsibilities

• Managing full-cycle accounting functions including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and GST filings
• Running end-to-end payroll for a mixed workforce (hourly and salaried employees)
• Handling payroll complexities such as OT, LOA, travel time, and job-specific allowances
• Supporting project cost accounting by coding expenses accurately to jobs and tracking costs
• Ensuring financial accuracy through self-review and troubleshooting with minimal supervision
• Overseeing a small team of AP staff and assisting with the transition of duties from the outgoing Controller
• Contributing to ongoing systems transition from Sage 100 Contractor to Acumatica

Qualifications

• Proficiency in full-cycle accounting
• Demonstrated experience with payroll processing, including construction-specific rules
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a lean, on-site environment
• Background in project-based accounting or cost tracking to jobs

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with Acumatica or Sage 100 Contractor
• Previous work in a construction or project-driven industry
• GST number / incorporated business (preferred for contractors)
• Exposure to ERP system implementations
