Payroll Specialist – 6 month contract

We’re supporting a well-established, national organization in the healthcare and distribution sector with their search for a Payroll Specialist to join their payroll team on a 6-month contract basis. Based in North Vancouver, this role will support end-to-end payroll processing for a mid-sized employee group and will play a key role in semi-monthly payroll execution, reconciliations, and year-end tasks. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong UKG experience looking for a stable, hands-on role within a collaborative and friendly team.

Key Responsibilities

• Process payroll transactions including new hires, terminations, leaves of absence, salary adjustments, bonuses, taxable benefits, and other pay-related changes
• Manage time-off tracking and data entry
• Prepare import files and review changes to run and close semi-monthly payroll
• Issue Records of Employment (ROEs) for both standard events and system-related transitions
• Support year-end and mid-year processes, including PIER reconciliation, T4/RL1 slip generation, and system setup for the new year
• Respond to employee and management inquiries related to payroll and benefits
• Assist with reconciliations such as vehicle benefits, journal entries, and payroll-related accounts

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 5 years of progressive payroll experience in a fast-paced environment
• Strong working knowledge of UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) payroll systems (essential)
• PCP designation from the National Payroll Institute (formerly Canadian Payroll Association) or actively working toward certification
• Experience with mid-sized, semi-monthly payrolls
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills
• Comfortable working fully on-site in North Vancouver (with future movement toward a hybrid schedule – approx. 3 days in office)

Compensation

• $80,000-$90,000
