A leading civil construction contractor is seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead the operations of three material production units in the greater Edmonton area. This leadership role is responsible for daily business operations, safety, and performance across:
The Plant Manager will manage the day-to-day business and operations of 3 material business units:
Role Purpose:
The Plant Manager oversees the operations of manufacturing plants producing:
Health, Safety & Environment
Responsible for driving safety performance across Business Units by leading indicator safety metrics:
To support continuous production and meet business objectives:
Uphold company values while leading and engaging a team through clear communication, guidance, and employee development:
To enhance overall team performance, lead initiatives focused on talent management succession planning, and team development:
To ensure effective cost control and business planning, support the Sales and Manufacturing teams on:
Regularly engage with the Sales team to explore bid opportunities and support the pursuit of new business within existing accounts and local markets.
Collaborate across departments to ensure smooth delivery of products and services, while also preparing proposals, negotiating deals, and analyzing market trends for continuous improvement.
Maintenance Management
To ensure optimal equipment performance and facility upkeep. Coordinate with Business Unit Superintendents and external trades to plan and execute preventive, predictive, and proactive maintenance for plant equipment:

- Asphalt Plants in Acheson and Leduc
- Soil Cement Plant in Edmonton
- Ready-Mix Plant in Acheson
Role Purpose:
The Plant Manager oversees the operations of manufacturing plants producing:
- Asphalt
- Soil Cement
- Concrete
- optimizing efficiency
- maintaining equipment
- managing inventory
- pricing materials
- ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.
Health, Safety & Environment
Responsible for driving safety performance across Business Units by leading indicator safety metrics:
- implementing and managing the HSE Program
- ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Collaborates with leadership and project teams to achieve HSE goal:
- fosters a culture of accountability
- continuously improves safety practices through guidance, feedback,
- leading by example
To support continuous production and meet business objectives:
- develop and oversee production, maintenance
- deliver strategies to meet KPIs
- optimize plant performance
- ensure efficient resource management
- quality control
- inventory
- cross-functional coordination

- Manage workforce planning
- foster strong union and cross-functional relations

To enhance overall team performance, lead initiatives focused on talent management succession planning, and team development:
- identifying key roles
- addressing skill gaps
- providing training
- ensuring clear communication of goals and corrective actions
To ensure effective cost control and business planning, support the Sales and Manufacturing teams on:
- quoting
- budgeting
- forecasting to ensure effective cost control and business planning.
- account receivables & payables
- inventory in line with SGE guidelines to identify improvement opportunities.
Regularly engage with the Sales team to explore bid opportunities and support the pursuit of new business within existing accounts and local markets.
Collaborate across departments to ensure smooth delivery of products and services, while also preparing proposals, negotiating deals, and analyzing market trends for continuous improvement.
Maintenance Management
To ensure optimal equipment performance and facility upkeep. Coordinate with Business Unit Superintendents and external trades to plan and execute preventive, predictive, and proactive maintenance for plant equipment:
- Follow and develop maintenance schedules
- Coordinate and manage major repairs
- conduct regular inspections
- Must have extensive industry experience in a supervisory position OR an equivalent combination of technical education and industry experience.
- Must have technical knowledge of asphalt and concrete equipment and process or relevant industry experience.
- Strong computer skills including knowledge of Command Alkon and MINDS software, MS Office, and JDE.
- Experience of operating and maintaining Asphalt Plants and Ready-Mix equipment or relevant industry experience.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage responsibilities.
- Overtime as required.
- Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements.
- Manual dexterity required to use computer and peripherals.
