What You’ll Do:
As Accounting Manager, you’ll play a key role in the financial health of the company, overseeing the full cycle of accounting operations, driving continuous improvement, and leading a dedicated team. You’ll be a critical part of our leadership group, offering real-time insights and ensuring we’re always moving forward with financial confidence.
Your Core Responsibilities:
Accounting & Reporting:
- Manage the month-end close and deliver accurate, timely financial statements.
- Lead and mentor accounting staff, providing ongoing training and support.
- Conduct weekly and monthly financial reviews, offering actionable insights to the senior leadership team.
- Develop annual budgets and financial projections that align with business goals.
- Support management with financial analysis, reporting, and decision-making tools.
- Perform journal entries and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Ensure payroll entries and cost allocations are accurately processed.
- Review AP transactions, coding, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Complete and file GST/HST and PST returns.
- Oversee physical inventory counts and support inventory controls.
- Create and manage ad hoc reporting to support cross-departmental needs.
- Provide backup for payroll review and approvals when needed.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across finance and operations.
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- CPA designation (or working toward it) is a strong asset.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within transportation, logistics, or a related operational industry.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or similar).
- A hands-on, solutions-oriented mindset with a passion for accuracy and efficiency.
