Our client, a well-established law firm in Milton, ON, is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their growing team. This will be a permanent opportunity!

- Please note, this will be a hybrid role (3 days on-site at the Client’s Milton Office)
- Monday to Friday
- Liaise with the legal team and clients regarding billing, collections, and trust-related communications.
- Prepare, review, and finalize legal accounts and billing packages.
- Manage the firm’s billing cycle, including time entry compliance and collections tracking.
- Oversee trust account activity, including Form 9A preparation and monthly reconciliations.
- Ensure trust compliance documentation is maintained according to the Law Society of Ontario regulations.
- Handle accounts payable and vendor disbursements.
- Track income receipts and manage accounts receivable reminders.
- Reconcile utility and credit card statements, as well as firm and client bank accounts.
- Post and manage general ledger entries across client and firm files.
- File HST remittances and assist with payroll coordination.
- Generate financial statements and external reports with minimal oversight.
- Prepare estate financial reports in court-passing format.
- Manage multiple estate and guardianship files, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Submit financial data to external accountants and ensure audit-readiness.
- Handle complex trust and estate transactions professionally and discreetly.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial workflows and compliance.
- Collaborate with leadership to improve financial reporting accuracy and efficiency.
- Serve as a resource for accounting tools and best practices within the team.
- 3+ years of legal bookkeeping/accounting experience (preferably in a law firm).
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Clio, Estateably, or similar systems.
- Strong knowledge of trust accounting, legal billing, and HST filing.
- Experience with estate accounting and court formats is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of accounting functions.
