Our client, who is an established life insurance carrier, is seeking an AVP Actuary to lead pricing and reinsurance oversight, while driving strategic initiatives within Capital Management. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with pricing and reinsurance policies, as well as maintaining consistent pricing standards across the organization’s Canadian operations.

Responsibilities
- Provide actuarial oversight of product design, pricing, and reinsurance practices across the organization.
- Maintain and update pricing and reinsurance policies, along with supporting standards and governance frameworks.
- Monitor compliance with established policies and review exception requests, supported by regular reporting.
- Support internal reinsurance programs and contribute to strategic capital initiatives, including acquisitions and investment-related decisions.
- Analyze and assess the impact of proposed regulatory changes, and help shape implementation strategies.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders on capital matters, including regulatory discussions and industry group participation.
- Monitor international capital developments and ensure consistent interpretation of guidelines across business lines.
- Lead and support team development, process improvements, and the adoption of technology solutions across Capital Management functions.
Qualifications
- Actuarial Fellowship
- Minimum of 8 years of actuarial experience, ideally with exposure to pricing and reinsurance
- Deep expertise in Canadian actuarial practices and regulatory frameworks, including OSFI guidelines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and communicate insights to senior stakeholders
- Proven ability to influence and educate cross-functional leaders through clear, strategic analysis
