We are seeking a highly experienced underwriting professional to join our client's growing team at the Director or AVP level. This is a strategic leadership opportunity for someone ready to take a step up from a current Manager role and bring depth of experience in underwriting across multiple lines. MGA experience and exposure to Lloyd's markets are essential.

This is a pure underwriting and program role — no operational oversight required. Ideal for someone currently at Manager level looking to grow into an Director or AVP position with broader strategic responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Lead underwriting strategy and execution across a diverse portfolio of programs
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor for junior underwriters; provide day-to-day guidance and support
  • Drive profitable growth by assessing and optimizing current underwriting practices and program performance
  • Collaborate closely with program partners and help guide new program development
  • Maintain and develop carrier and broker relationships, including sourcing and negotiations
  • Actively contribute to broker distribution strategy, with a strong focus on growing and managing broker relationships
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of commercial property and casualty underwriting experience
  • Must have MGA experience, with strong understanding of delegated authority structures and compliance
  • Exposure to the Lloyd’s market and related underwriting practices
  • Experience across multiple lines of business; professional liability experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated team leadership experience (e.g., team lead, subject matter expert, or direct manager)
  • Strong understanding of underwriting systems; EPIC system experience preferred
  • Ability to operate independently and in collaboration with the Head of Operations and underwriting teams
