This position plays a key leadership role in survey operations for large-scale civil construction projects, including highways, bridges, and other heavy civil works across Western Canada.
The Role:
As Manager, Construction Survey, you will lead a team of skilled survey professionals, overseeing all aspects of construction survey, drafting, and ice profiling services in support of critical infrastructure initiatives. This is a hands-on leadership position involving project planning, field operations, technical oversight, and quality assurance for work carried out in both urban and remote project sites.

The Role:
As Manager, Construction Survey, you will lead a team of skilled survey professionals, overseeing all aspects of construction survey, drafting, and ice profiling services in support of critical infrastructure initiatives. This is a hands-on leadership position involving project planning, field operations, technical oversight, and quality assurance for work carried out in both urban and remote project sites.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the delivery of construction survey and drafting services for major civil infrastructure projects.
- Coordinate survey planning and execution to support construction activities, including structural layout, 3D modelling, and as-built surveys.
- Oversee data analysis from as-built conditions and quantity calculations to support progress claims and project tracking.
- Direct the recruitment, training, and day-to-day leadership of survey teams; manage personnel and equipment deployment, particularly for remote or seasonal worksites.
- Support and execute ice profiling operations, including the acquisition and maintenance of related instrumentation.
- Ensure the production of accurate and timely drawings for pre-construction, interim, and project close-out documentation.
- Maintain detailed project records and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures and quality management systems specific to survey and ice profiling deliverables.
- Contribute to business development by supporting cost estimating, proposal writing, and contract negotiation processes related to survey and ice profiling scopes of work.
- Diploma or associate degree in Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of progressive survey experience, ideally within heavy civil construction environments.
- Demonstrated experience with Trimble (R12), Total Station (SX10), and drone systems (Phantom 4 Pro or equivalent).
- Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong working knowledge of construction drawings and related documentation standards.
- Familiarity with occupational health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Proven leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and guide field teams in diverse and remote settings.
- Physically fit and able to work in challenging outdoor environments, with the ability to regularly carry up to 20 kg of equipment.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract.
