Aplin has partnered with our client to hire a Litigation Legal Assistant to join a respected legal team focused on professional liability defense. This role supports complex litigation matters before the Alberta Court of King’s Bench, assisting lawyers who defend members of the legal profession in civil suits.
This is a hybrid role that blends both legal assistant and paralegal responsibilities. The ideal candidate will bring strong litigation experience, exceptional attention to detail, and a high degree of comfort with legal technology and document preparation tools.

- Draft a variety of legal documents including statements of claim, applications, affidavits, pleadings, and legal arguments
- Format, file, and manage correspondence and court submissions in accordance with court rules
- Conduct legal research and prepare summaries to support casework
- Manage complex litigation files independently, including scheduling, organizing, and maintaining file integrity
- Coordinate court filings and liaise with clients, external counsel, and insurance representatives
- Prepare and process dictation, assist with transcription, and maintain accurate documentation
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in litigation, ideally in a professional liability or insurance defence context
- Comfortable performing a mix of paralegal-level tasks (e.g., drafting pleadings, research, file management) and legal assistant duties (e.g., scheduling, formatting, dictation)
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency with document management systems, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office
- Ability to meet tight deadlines with accuracy and professionalism
- Experience with Alberta Court of King’s Bench procedures and e-filing processes is a strong asset
