Reporting to a regional leadership team, the Senior Underwriter will be responsible for managing a diverse commercial portfolio across property, casualty, and specialty lines. You'll work with brokers and internal stakeholders to assess risks, structure coverage, and ensure profitable underwriting results across both new and renewal business.

This is an influential role suited to someone who brings strong technical acumen, sound judgment, and a collaborative mindset to the table.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and underwrite mid to complex commercial P&C accounts within established authority limits.
  • Review renewal submissions, analyze risk exposures, and structure appropriate coverage and pricing.
  • Work directly with brokers to develop business and maintain positive, service-driven relationships.
  • Provide input on underwriting strategy, product development, and market positioning.
  • Contribute to cross-line growth by identifying and collaborating on multi-line opportunities.
  • Represent the company at industry events and client meetings across Western Canada.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for junior underwriters on technical and service best practices.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulatory developments, and competitor positioning.
Qualifications
  • Deep experience in commercial underwriting, ideally 7+ years, with strong knowledge of both standard and specialty P&C lines.
  • Experience underwriting large or complex risks, including corporate and multinational accounts.
  • Familiarity with cyber or professional liability products is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence interacting with brokers, clients, and peers.
  • Completed or in-progress industry designation such as CIP or FCIP.
  • Proficiency in policy wordings, risk assessment tools, and coverage analysis.
  • Ability to operate both independently and within a team-oriented culture.
