Estimator / Senior Estimator – ICI Construction Projects
Location: Various Locations, Florida, USA

Aplin is proud to partner with a top-tier construction firm to recruit an experienced Estimator / Senior Estimator to support the expansion of Institutional, Commercial, and Industrial (ICI) projects across Florida.

Position Overview As an Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in the preparation of competitive bids and proposals for mid to large-scale construction projects. Whether leading estimates or contributing as part of a team, your work will directly impact the firm’s ability to secure strategic projects that align with financial and operational objectives.

We are seeking a candidate with a strong industry reputation, exceptional conceptual estimating skills, a deep understanding of project risks, and strong relationships with sub-trades.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings and contract documents to determine requirements for lump-sum, hard bid, and construction management opportunities.
• Lead or contribute to estimates for complex or large-scale projects.
• Assess risks and manage scope changes, addenda, and bid updates.
• Collaborate with estimating leadership to develop pursuit strategies and schedules.
• Perform full quantity take-offs, including labor, equipment, and material costs.
• Identify scope gaps and validate accuracy of trade contractor bids and pricing.
• Review and confirm pricing for equipment, materials, freight, taxes, and escalation.
• Provide input on project-specific general conditions and indirect costs.
• Lead or support internal and client-facing bid reviews and proposal preparation.
• Coordinate estimating team activities and ensure submission of high-quality bids.
• Support a seamless transition from preconstruction to execution teams for awarded projects.
• Contribute to CAD drawings, site logistics, and crane/hoist planning.
• Participate in relationship-building efforts with owners and designers.
• Analyze risks and opportunities to help shape effective win strategies.
  
  

Qualifications

• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent trade background).
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive estimating experience; on-site experience (6–12 months) preferred.
• Proven ability to lead successful pursuits up to $150M across various delivery models (hard bid, GMP, design-build, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of self-perform work, productivity analysis, and both building and civil construction.
• Proficient with industry-standard estimating and takeoff software.
• Capable of producing conceptual estimates without complete drawings/specs.
• Experience in trade procurement, general expense pricing, and final bid closings.
• Familiarity with contract terms, construction sequences, and scheduling impacts.
• Skilled in developing bar chart schedules and understanding milestone dependencies.
• Strong grasp of market dynamics, competitor analysis, and business trends.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Committed to safety, quality, and ethical construction practices.
