Aplin has partnered with a leader in the defense industry to hire a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team focused on developing innovative electronics solutions. This role involves working in areas such as low-noise preamps, high-speed digital telemetry, digital signal processing, and RF design.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and maintain hardware and firmware systems that meet project and quality standards
  • Prepare and review design documentation, including schematics, board layouts, specifications, and datasheets
  • Support upgrades and modifications to existing electrical systems
  • Contribute to cost estimates and collaborate with teams to support budgeting
  • Apply broad engineering knowledge and act as a technical point of contact for clients
  • Mentor and review the work of junior team members
  • Lead and participate in technical reviews
  • Other related duties as needed
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with 10+ years of experience, or Master’s with 7+ years
  • Eligible to work with Canadian Controlled Goods and US ITAR-regulated materials
  • Ability to obtain NATO Reliability and Secret-level security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Underwater Acoustics Engineering
  • 7+ years of experience in commercial or military electronics
  • 3+ years of project or technical leadership experience
  • Background in maritime or underwater warfare domains
  • Proficiency in analog/digital circuit design and embedded systems (ARM, DSP)
  • Familiarity with SPI, I2C, UART interfaces
  • DSP, FPGA (VHDL), and embedded software (Assembly, C) development
  • Experience with tools like OrCAD, PSpice, Sourcery CodeBench, Atollic TrueSTUDIO
  • Knowledge of networking technologies (Ethernet, Fiber Optic, ATM, SONET)
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Familiarity with structured design processes and documentation
  • Willingness to travel within Canada, the US, and internationally
