Our client is a well-established and growing public accounting firm based in Surrey, known for its collaborative culture and long-standing client relationships. With a strong focus on private enterprises, they provide tailored audit, review, and assurance services to a diverse portfolio of clients across various industries. As they continue to grow, they are looking to add a Senior Staff Accountant to their assurance team.

About the Opportunity

This role is ideal for a CPA-designated (or near-designated) professional with experience in public practice, specifically in audit and review engagements for private companies. You’ll work closely with managers and partners, playing a key role in fieldwork, file reviews, client communication, and junior staff support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and perform review engagements, audits, and notice-to-reader files for private companies
  • Assist with planning and executing assurance engagements from start to finish
  • Review working papers prepared by junior staff and provide guidance and mentorship
  • Prepare financial statements and related corporate tax filings (T2s)
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients to address technical issues and timelines
  • Ensure all engagements are executed in compliance with professional standards and firm policies
  • Contribute to internal process improvement and participate in staff development initiatives
Qualifications
  • CPA designation (or near completion)
  • 2–4+ years of public practice experience, ideally with exposure to private enterprise clients
  • Strong experience in review engagements and audit fieldwork
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in CaseWare, TaxPrep, and Microsoft Excel (experience with cloud-based accounting software is a plus)
  • Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Compensation & Benefits
  • $70,000–$90,000 base salary (commensurate with experience)
