We are seeking a seasoned Accounts Payable Manager for a 3-month contract in Southeast Edmonton. This hands-on role is ideal for a professional who can quickly assess and clean up a backlog of AP issues while implementing strong, scalable processes.

The successful candidate will bring clarity to a disorganized subledger, correct vendor discrepancies, and provide leadership in stabilizing payment workflows. This opportunity requires someone who can hit the ground running, work collaboratively with the finance team, and confidently bring structure to a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess and resolve issues in the AP subledger, ensuring vendor balances are accurate and reconciled
  • Review, clean up, and streamline outstanding payables, identifying unknown liabilities and clarifying due dates
  • Oversee high-volume utility payments and vendor relations for multiple retail locations
  • Improve processes and controls for corporate credit card usage and reconciliation
  • Implement stronger workflows and tracking systems for invoice approval and payment cycles
  • Ensure timely and accurate electronic payments and cheque processing as needed
  • Work collaboratively with the accounting team on-site 3 days per week, with flexibility on which days
  • Use Dynamics GP (Great Plains) to manage AP functions; GP experience preferred but not required
  • Communicate effectively with leadership and stakeholders, providing updates on progress and issues
  • Bring initiative, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently without extensive onboarding
