Part-Time Human Resources Manager – Toronto. 20-25 hours/week, in office.

We are seeking an experienced HR Manager for this part-time opportunity, our client is a dynamic firm in Downtown Toronto. Legal or professional services industry experience and 5+ years of progressive HR experience is required.

About The Opportunity
This role is responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies, policies, and practices that align with the organization’s goals and objectives. The Human Resources Manager will oversee the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, professional development, and offboarding.

About The Position
Employee Relations, Engagement & Culture
  • Foster a positive, inclusive workplace by building strong relationships across the firm and promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Serve as the primary HR contact for all policy and workplace matters, providing support and guidance to employees.
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives, including staff appreciation events, Take Our Kids to Work Day, and long-term service recognition.

HR Strategy, Compliance & Operations
  • Advise leadership on workforce planning, change management, and organizational development to support business goals.
  • Develop and implement HR policies in compliance with relevant legislation, including ESA, health and safety, and accessibility standards.
  • Manage accommodations, leaves of absence, and return-to-work processes.

Performance & Talent Management
  • Lead the performance management process, including reviews, coaching, and progressive discipline.
  • Support leadership in managing employee development, retention, and terminations.
  •  
Recruitment & Onboarding
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for legal, administrative, and support roles.

The Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • CHRL designation or CHRP with equivalent experience is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, ideally within a professional services or legal environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and advise leadership on a wide range of HR issues.
  • Exceptional judgment, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Commitment to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
  • Proven discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain a high level of accuracy.

Compensation
  • Annual salary up to $120,000 depending on experience.
