David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client; a government agency responsible for managing Ontario waterways and dam operations within Ontario. The ideal candidate will bring relevant experience in planning, executing, monitoring & controlling a water management plan for a system of reservoirs and waterway channels.
Provide professional engineering leadership, research advice and guidance on water and wastewater treatment.
Plan, manage and oversee maintenance of a water level and the meteorological monitoring network.
Provide knowledge of current hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, monitoring, analysis, and assessment tools.
Implement experience in water management, asset management or project management with government institutions.
Plan, manage and conduct in-house engineering studies, surveys, and projects; prepare designs, drawings, schedules, cost estimates and technical specifications for assets construction, re-capitalization, maintenance, conservation/preservation and disposal; develop and implement specialized engineering standards, tools, and methodologies.
Lead/contribute to the development of asset management policies, standards and guidelines, asset management strategies, plans and reports, and the development and on-going management of the systems and tools to support asset management; provide professional engineering asset life-cycle management advice and monitor asset management activity.
Manage and administer contracts or service agreements; manage budgets and material resources; conduct quality assurance monitoring and overall project evaluation; resolve disputes and contract issues, including unusual and difficult situations and approve project reports.
Provide advice and recommendations to senior management (managers at the director level and above).
Write technical documents such as a request for proposals and statements of work required for the provision of contracted services.
Qualifications and Skills:
Ability to analyze and synthesize complex information including large volumes of data, multiple and varied inputs, and competing needs.
At least 3 years’ experience within the past 5 years, with at least 1 year of that experience being within Canada and in relation to waterway management.
Ability to effectively engage and lead teams in a matrix organizational structure. Ability to negotiate and resolve issues with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Degree from a recognized university in water resources engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position
