David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client, a leading manufacturer, and distributor of a broad range of state-of-the-art exterior building materials for the home remodeling, building, and municipal construction markets. On their behalf, we are currently seeking a Vice President of Sales to join their team in Toronto, Ontario.

The Vice President of Sales will be responsible for the overall direction, leadership of sales development plans and initiatives that align with our Client’s goals and objectives.

The Role:


  • Develops and implements go to market sales strategy in support of Corporate goals and objectives. 
  • Manage the Sales Directors and their teams to assist the President & CEO in the achievement of the stated revenue and profitability targets. 
  • Prepares monthly Sales Review in preparation for the monthly review. 
  • Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals for volume and price accordingly by market/region/territory/salesperson 
  • Assesses market pricing and provide key feedback on pricing strategy and approach
  • Leads the active adoption and successful usage of a CRM system. 
  • Engages in market mapping to understand market share by product and region to maximize efforts and realize successful alignment of the sales funnel activities. 
  • Delivers sales presentations to key clients in coordination with the Directors of Sales, and assist in maintaining relationships, while also negotiating and closing deals.
  • Develop a high-performance Sales organization. 
  • Interview, hire and train new Sales Staff. 
  • Create the annual Sales Incentive Plan with appropriate monthly tracking for progress.
  • Lead and coach the sales organization on effective relationship management strategies and tactics, as well as best practices in establishing new customer relationships and regaining market share.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field, plus 15-years Sales/brand management experience; MBA preferred 
  • Preferred experience areas: B2B Sales, manufacturing, consumer goods and/or building products
  • Proficiency in a variety of software applications, such as Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and CRM systems
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time with overnights 
  • Experience managing remote sales employees
  • Track record of meeting/exceeding sales goals for business to business and business to consumer strategies 
  • Experience in continuous improvement, lean environments 
  • Multi-Channel sales management experience, coupled with the ability to lead transformation initiatives; also, must be capable of driving and achieving bottom-line results and managing a P&L.
  • Strong leader capable of effecting change through hands-on management techniques and personal credibility; possesses a strong customer mindset and proven ability to build a customer-focused organization.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic skills, coupled with highly effective interpersonal, customer relations and negotiating skills; also possesses good business judgment and problem-solving capabilities.
