David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit for UI/UX Developer based in Mississauga, ON.
Do you scroll past unnecessarily complex user interfaces without blinking an eye? Don’t you love seeing modal window ads with tight kerning on a Papyrus font-face? How about stuttering animations and content flashes – so much better than progressive loading experiences, right?
If you’re doing anything but cringing right now, do us a favor and close this browser tab. You’re not right for the job.
Still there? Excellent. Let’s fast-forward a couple of months. You’re sitting in the world’s most comfortable chair, staring at dual LG 34” ultrawides. You just finished meticulously inspecting your latest project: a brand new interface for an upcoming product – crisp, clear, and crafted with robotic precision. Having once again excelled where peers of your past would have faltered, you allow yourself a moment of calm triumph before linking back up with the Marketing Team.
The energy of your environment breathes back to life as you take off your noise-canceling Bose QC35 IIs. To your left, you notice two colleagues inspecting a smartphone that won’t come out for another three months. To your right, you spot the Head of Customer Experience going head-to-head in a round of billiards against the CEO as they discuss emerging markets and growth opportunities. Surveying the office mezzanine, you make eye contact with a Social Media Agent. The clicking of her mechanical keyboard stops as she gestures for you to come over and check out the enthusiastic response on Twitter regarding your latest addition to the site.
Not so fast. You’re not there yet. To make this dream a reality – to get the opportunity to brainstorm with our world-class marketing geniuses and savant technology team – you’re going to have to prove yourself. Make it past the gate and your future self won’t be able to thank you enough. Let’s see if you’ve got what it takes…
Perfectionist: You persist until the smallest detail has been optimized and accept nothing less than 100%.
Innovative: You develop new approaches to complex problems.
Collaborative: You enjoy purposeful meetings. You value the contributions and perspectives of your CEO as much as you do your coworkers.
Curious: You’re eager to learn new concepts and master new skills. There’s no tool that’s useless in your arsenal.
Disciplined: You never allow the details to slip, understanding that every bit of minutiae forms the bigger picture.
Enthusiastic: You exhibit a contagious passion for user experiences, especially on the web.
Agile: You’re nimble. You’re adaptable. You thrive in an environment where priorities can change in an instant.
Analytical: Your decisions are driven by only one thing: data. You continue to master all the tools necessary to surface insights.
Reliable: You live up to both verbal and written agreements. You can be trusted to work effectively, without oversight.
Persistent: You’ve never failed. You’ve only experienced speed bumps on your path to success.
Your challenges and responsibilities will include (but definitely aren’t limited to):
Architect, design, and prototype rich, responsive, intuitive and flexible web interfaces.
Gather and evaluate user requirements for our website, products, and packaging.

A strong sense of optimizing user experiences on the web.
Rich experience working in HTML/CSS/JS and awareness of solving related challenges, such as performance and compatibility issues.
An impeccable communication style - your grasp on the English language is flawless.
Detail-oriented, self-sufficient, resourceful, organized and proactive.
The instinct to help teammates thrive and the openness to learn from their experiences.
The ability to solve complex problems (or know where to find the answer).
Commitment to long-term growth and learning opportunities.
Insights and engagement with the current state of smartphone and mobile technology.
