David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit a Transportation Coordinator based in Edmonton, Alberta.

Our client, a notable and well-known organization, is seeking a self-motivated and experienced Transportation Coordinator for up to a 10 month contract position. There is also the possibility of extension. This role is responsible for organized and administrate deliveries. This individual will deal with all levels of the industry in an expeditious manner as well as deal with administrative procedures. The Role:

  • Responsible for the provision and development of transportation services to the industry partners.
  • Coordinate the delivery routes in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure that the weekly dispatch plan is communicated to processors.
  • Make adjustments to individual processor orders as required.
  • Update Plant of Last Resort (PLR) plant inventories daily if information is supplied and adjust as required.
  • Handle processor concerns.
  • Dispatch routes in an effective manner that meets current delivery parameters (receiving window).  
  • Assign routes that satisfy the manufacturers’ daily volume requirements and keep route volumes current to reflect accurate expected receipts.
  • Assist by providing information as required regarding route make up, route destination, etc.
  • Prepare weekly dispatch plan and communicate to transporters and ensure that the transporter route volumes are up to date.
  • Communicate revisions to transporter’s destinations in a timely manner.
  • Review and authorize monthly secondary hauling invoices.
  • Handle transporter concerns.
  • Accept returned handheld units from haulers for repair
  • Transporters need timely information to arrange their routes and staffing.  
  • Weekly dispatch sheets are forwarded to the Transportation Administrator for distribution to haulers.
  • Authorize hauler miscellaneous invoices on a monthly basis to meet finance deadlines.
The Ideal Candidate:

  • A diploma or undergraduate degree, agriculture post-secondary an asset
  • Experience with transportation logistics
  • Practice dealing with producers, transporters, processors and other stakeholders.
  • Experience in the collection, analysis and presentation of information from various sources.
  • Experience in report writing and development of industry related material.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
