David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit a Territory Sales Manager based in Fort McMurray, AB.

Our client, a quality manufacturer of materials handling equipment, boasts a very open, inclusive culture with a well-respected President who cares about his people and is committed to fostering a culture based on integrity. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Technical Sales Consultant with a strong mechanical background to manage and grow their successful business in the oil sands marketplace. 

Working out of a home-based office, you will be a need to be a self-started and will have full rein to grow and support the financial success of your employer and yourself in this challenging career opportunity. Your first-hand working knowledge of the materials conveyance industry will allow you to partner with your clients within the oil sands and mining industries predominantly in the Fort McMurray, Yukon and Nunavut areas. Understanding how to do business with First Nations groups will help support your success in securing large industrial projects.

The Role:

  • Maintain a current and up-to-date client database 
  • Ensure the overall accuracy of the information provided to Technical Sales
  • Provide encouragement to client base to allow them to develop and grow
  • Track and report industry trends
  • Clarify any conflicting or ambiguous information in the sales agreements or contracts and ensure any changes to the contracts or design are communicated to the relevant personnel in a timely manner
  • Assist Distributors with developing their marketing territories by making joint sales calls when needed
  • Ensure that clients are properly trained and informed of the company’s quality, products, procedures and history
  • Achieve or surpass annual budgeted sales targets
  • Keep informed of territory or client events and trends 
  • Demonstrate a high level of safety awareness at all times
  • Carry out other tasks as required by the Sales Manager
The Ideal Candidate:

  • Post-secondary technical education, or engineering or business degree would be an asset
  • Above average ability to communicate and build relationships
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills
  • Computer competence
  • Highly positive attitude towards clients and co-workers with a strong motivation to assist with any problems that may arise
  • Ability to organize and prioritize 
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to create and give presentations
