Our rapidly growing Edmonton based client is seeking a dynamic and self-motivated Supply Chain Specialist to join their team.  The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative fast paced work environment where there is plenty of challenge and lots to learn.

The Role:


  • Identifying new suppliers or working with existing suppliers to effectively manage the procurement of all new materials and MRO items
  • Ordering goods and services promptly both as purchase requisitions are received and based on longer term planning for strategic raw materials
  • Negotiating the best possible value for all goods and services by obtaining the most economical pricing
  • Work with other departments to establish a cycle/schedule whereby requirements and forecasts are provided
  • Providing market pricing, supply and trend information to management on an ongoing basis
  • Contacting suppliers for information on raw materials as requested
  • Provide leadership and guidance to support the day to day functions and continuous improvement of the supply chain management functions in alignment with leading practices
  • Work collaboratively with senior leadership to leverage resources and knowledge to achieve project goals and complete deliverables on-time
  • Working with the financial team to follow up on invoices and communicate with vendors
  • Negotiate with suppliers and vendors on terms and pricing 
  • Creating and implementing process improvements for the Supply Chain department
Logistics & Warehousing:

  • Ensuring supply by monitoring inventories, keeping track of supplier lead times, investigating alternate primary and secondary sources
  • Analyze inventories to determine how to increase turns, reduce waste, and optimize efficiency 
  • Identify warehouse storage needs and movement of finished goods
  • Develop and implement strategies for the secure and economical transportation of goods
  • Forecasting and budgeting for the supply chain department
The Ideal Candidate:

  • 5+ years of Procurement and Supply Chain related work experience 
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset
  • Prior experience leading and mentoring a team is an asset
  • Ability to make decisions with market, economic, social, and political environments taken into account
  • Post-secondary education related to business or supply chain management; SCMP designation or the equivalent experience is an asset
  • The ability to leverage interpersonal skills to establish rapport and develop relationships with all key stakeholders, suppliers, customers and colleagues
  • Demonstrated expertise in some of the key Sourcing & Procurement focus areas such as:
    • Strategic Sourcing
    • Category Management
    • Process Transformation
    • Spend Analysis
    • Sourcing Strategy Development
    • Supplier Negotiations
    • Contract Development & Management
    • Supplier Performance & Relationship Management
    • Supplier Risk Management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams
  • Someone who thrives in a fast-paced and fluid environment
  • Advanced ERP System skills with preference in SAP, Microsoft Office Suite with superior Excel skills
