David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit a talented Senior Treasury Analyst based in Ottawa, ON.

We are looking for a passionate individual who will assist in the management of funding, liquidity,capital and interest rate risk and regulatory reporting.  Tasks will include derivative and investment portfolio management, regulatory and financial reporting, forecasting and managing interest margin, analyzing balance sheet risks using advanced computer simulation techniques and other related duties.

The Role:

Liquidity Analysis:

  • Gather relevant financial data

  • Evaluate and compare the accuracy of the results and investigate any discrepancies

  • Update monthly liquidity contingency assessment reporting

  • Update monthly liquidity laddering reporting

Derivatives & Investment Reporting:

  • Gather and analyze financial data in order to calculate monthly accrued interest on hedging transactions

  • Prepare derivative and investment day-to-day and month-end journal entries

  • Prepare monthly reconciliation to ensure the accuracy and completeness of journal entries

Internal Reporting:

  • Assist in the preparation and enhancement of the monthly ALCO reporting package

  • Prepare ad-hoc reports as requested

  • Strategic & Process Improvement:

  • Support reviews of critical processes with an eye towards validity, accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Track and manage changes to processes and ensure business requirements are traceable to the final design, solution and documentation.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Professional accounting, financial certification, finance related university degree such as CFA/MBA/CA/CMA/CGA/BCOMM.

  • Treasury, banking, investments and/or financial analysis experience.

  • IFRS and Canadian GAAP, specifically IAS 39 Financial Instruments.

  • Extensive experience with banking systems, financial products and technology.

  • Knowledge of capital markets, money markets, foreign exchange markets, including high level knowledge of financial derivatives and options.

  • Sound knowledge of banking business and finance theory.

  • Ability to manage strict deadlines and multiple tasks.

  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
