David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client, a producer of heavy nuclear grade fabrications, to recruit for a Quality Assurance Engineer based in Niagara Falls, ON. This position offers a competitive compensation plan with an opportunity for growth.

The successful candidate will be supporting the quality control inspectors on all production activities and enforcing QA requirements for excellence in quality production.

The Role:

  • Communicate and coordinate with authorized Nuclear Inspector
  • Keep records of quality reports, statistical reviews, and relevant documentation
  • Follow and enforce procedures for effectively inspecting and reporting quality issues
  • Assist in internal and external quality assurance audits
  • Investigate and assist in solving issues affecting reliability and consistency of production
  • Review current standards and policies to ensure they are adequate and meet legal guidelines
  • Review and acceptance Material Test Reports and Supplier documentation
  • Aware of disposition, closing out of Nonconformance and Corrective Actions
  • Perform tool calibration
  • Visual & Dimensional Inspection
  • Utilize NDE methods for Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, and Radiographic  examination
  • Have knowledge of and monitor all operations that affect the quality

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong understanding of CSA Z299, CSA N285, ISO9001 and ASME Sec III, Sec V, Sec VIII, & Sec IX
  • Above average English communication skills
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience
  • College or University diploma in a technical field is required
  • Preference for CGSB-48.9712 Level 2 for MT and/or PT and CWB -W178.2 Level 2
  • Aware of disposition, closing out of Nonconformance and Corrective Actions
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in quality control in manufacturing or pressure vessels
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Nuclear fabrication or facility
  • Ability to compile History Files to meet client / Code requirements
  • Strong understanding of a working calibrations program
  • Qualified as a lead auditor/auditor
  • Proficient in MS-based computer applications
  • Positive and cooperative attitude.
  • The ability to work unsupervised
