David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit for an Information Technology Project Manager, for a one year term with the possibility of extension.

The Role:

  • Provide leadership to a multifaceted team consisting of employees, contractors and third party vendors.
  • Acquire a thorough understanding of our Client’s business as it pertains to the project.
  • Review the project’s current progress, take ownership, and develop a plan to deliver successfully.
  • Develop a project recovery strategy.
  • Develop design architecture with technical experts.
  • Manage the scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Ensure the people, process and technology are aligned to deliver successfully by:
    • facilitating regular, productive team meetings;
    • developing and managing an effective strategy for facilitating task estimation by team members;
    • ensuring all team members remain accountable for their deliverables and take action when tasks slip; and
    • reviewing current test practices, providing recommendations for improvement, and monitoring for success.
  • Deliver weekly status reports that include scope, schedule, budget, and barriers that require leadership decisions.
  • Review and identify gaps in the artifacts used on the project and implement or coordinate resolution where required.
  • Develop and maintain the artifacts necessary for your role in managing and reporting on the project, including:
    • project charter, including scope, measurable business objectives, roles, and corresponding responsibilities;
    • project plan, including milestones, timelines, and resource requirements;
    • risk management plan and log;
    • decision management plan and log;
    • issue management plan and log;
    • change management plan and log;
    • effective meeting agendas;
    • actionable meeting minutes;
    • communications plan;
    • stakeholder management plan;
    • quality/test strategy and plan, including strong test case development understanding;
    • transition plan; and
    • weekly leadership project status report.
  • Establish the terms of reference for an IT governance committee, participate as a member of the committee, establish meeting schedule, and document agendas and minutes.
The Ideal Candidate:

  • At least 10 years’ comprehensive experience in project management.
  • Demonstrable skills and experience identifying barriers to success and developing strategies to eliminate them.
  • A portfolio of success stories for medium/large scale IT project implementations spanning multiple functional business units.
  • A thorough understanding of the principles related to project management.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superb leadership.
  • A PMP designation is required.
  • Experience in a Business Analyst role is desirable.
  • Experience working with the ServiceNow platform is an asset.
  • Be an effective, motivational leader that can provide a positive atmosphere to rally a team.
  • Understand all aspects of an IT project lifecycle.
  • Enjoy providing mentorship to team members who are looking for guidance.
  • Demonstrated ability in successfully turning around projects.
  • Proven successful system implementation.
