David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to identify and hire a Senior Project Manager who has experience in managing medium size projects. 1-10 M involving various disciplines (engineering, product management, sales and vendors).
Responsible for ensuring that a superior quality product is delivered to our Client’s customers (internal and external) on time and on budget to all aspects of the customer statement or requirements.
Orchestrates the activities of multiple departments within the company and external suppliers in compliance with the ISO Product Realization.
Provides support to the Sales and Product Management Departments in quoting new jobs and items arising from Change Management for Engineered Products.Participate and sign off and acceptance of new customer orders in accordance to the Quote/Contract Review Procedures.
Reviews all customers SOW/SOR (Statement of Work/Statement of Requirements) in conjunction with the respective Engineering Supervisor and necessary internal departments, to ensure that the company can meet or exceed the desired objectives.
Prepares Purchase Requisitions and co-ordinates with the Purchasing Department to ensure all services and materials are ordered in a timeframe consistent with the master timeline and ensures proper Engineering Specifications have been established, to define clear “acceptance criteria” for Suppliers/Quality/Assurance in the execution of the company’s Purchase Orders.
Develops and maintains detailed and comprehensive resource plans, gantt charts, Earned Value reports and project timelines. Prepare timely reporting of Budgets, Compliance Lists, Open Issues Lists and supporting documentation for all aspects of Engineered Products.
Arranges and conducts meetings with internal stakeholders, customers, and 3rd. Party Consulting Engineering firms. Ensures proper recording and circulation of the minutes.
Professionally communicates with the customer and/or 3rd. Party Consulting Engineering Firm, in a timely fashion, any technical issues or changes in Project Scope that impact on cost, quality, manufacturing feasibility, timing, performance, durability, etc. Coordinates with the Sales and Product Management Departments in matters pertaining to commercial issues. Sales/Product Management Departments will execute all commercial discussions with the customer. Manage the project related Change Management process within the company and with external vendors and customers as appropriate.
Communicates with sub-contractors and vendors on technical matters, to ensure a clear understanding of the Statement of Requirements and/or expectations as outlined in Purchase Orders. Ensures vendors are compliant to the companies and customer SOR’s. Commercial issues are communicated through the Purchasing Department.
Manage the creation of the necessary job files and proper Record Retention/filing systems to ensure all information is properly stored, backup (electronically) and easily retrieved in conformance to ISO9001 procedures.
Provides all necessary information pertaining to customer needs to all disciplines within the company, sub-vendors, sub-contracts and with sister divisions.
Updates the MRP System to ensure the information is an accurate reflection of the status.Notifies CSR of the appropriate time to invoice customers against agreed upon payment milestones, terms and conditions.
Supervises the preparation of the Operating and Maintenance Manuals and Manufactures Record Book for submission to the customer and in compliance with internal and customer SOR and expectations.
Communicates/reports to management in a timely fashion, proactively escalating concerns or roadblocks that will impede the delivery of quality product, on time and within budget.
Contacts the Customer / Consulting Engineering Firm for final inspection and/or commissioning of the companies supplied product in accordance with contractual terms and conditions.
Initiates plans and ideas for cost reduction and/or quality improvement measures.
Follows and enforces the guidelines and rules as defined in the Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company policies.
Travel to customers, vendors and site installations are to be expected. Will be required to work “onsite” at customer locations for different periods by Project needs.
Co-ordinates and interacts with 3rd Party Inspectors to ensure compliance to the SOR and final acceptance of the manufactured product.
The Ideal Candidate:
Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering preferred.
An equivalent mix of relevant education (i.e. 3 years Technology Diploma) and more senior, relevant experience may also be considered.
8 to 10 years of strong project management experience. Experience in Oil Sand projects is an important asset.
PMP – Project Management Professional Designation.
Advanced Business Administration training and/or commercial experience is considered an asset.
