Senior Mine Engineer will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of underground production. This includes overseeing all short-range mine plans and developing mid-to-long-range mine plans including infrastructure, mine services, and production.
This position includes an industry competitive compensation package and the option of fly-in fly-out rotational scheduling.
The Role:
- Supervise the development and application of short term mine plans;
- Lead development of mid-range production forecast (0-3 months) with team of short range mine engineers;
- Play a leading role in long range (LOM) mine plan design, scheduling, and development;
- Ensure coordination between long term objectives and monthly mine plans;
- Provide technical support to mine operations in achieving short-term objectives;
- Assist mine operations by providing judicious information and guidance to limit potential issues that would affect the monthly plan;
- Apply knowledge of mine ventilation, pumping and ground control to help resolve basic problems by working with other groups of the engineering department;
- Integrate long term infrastructure requirements, construction, and maintenance projects into mine plan;
- Provide leadership in conflict resolution between short-term and long term requirements;
- Mentor and coach the junior staff in scheduling and production;
- Oversee underground project team through design approval and project scheduling;
- Participate in budgeting process;
- Support Chief Engineer by having an active role in various projects around the mine.
The Ideal Candidate:
- BSc in Mining Engineering with a minimum 6-8 year of underground mining experience;
- Excellent knowledge in underground narrow vein mining (long-hole preferred);
- Experience in underground construction project management would be seen as an asset;
- Supervisory experience in a production environment is desirable;
- The individual should have demonstrated, leadership, a high level of energy, self-motivation, and strong organizational skills;
- Exceptional attention to detail, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment;
- Genuine sense of urgency in production matters and being proactive in solution finding;
- The incumbent will demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, Autocad and Promine is required.
