David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client, a highly regarded and well-established law firm, to recruit a Senior Litigation Legal Assistant. Experience in insurance litigation and/or a strong understanding of the litigation process is preferred.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Post-secondary diploma or certificate in an accredited Legal Assistant or Paralegal Program and/or a successful career history in the role of a Legal Assistant/Paralegal will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience preferably in the area of insurance litigation (experience in both Plaintiff and Defense would be considered a strong asset) and/or a strong understanding of the litigation process.
  • Experience working in a Paralegal position would be considered a strong asset.
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of legal software such as ESILAW (asset).
  • Strong dictation, proofreading and editing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills together with great interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently and in a team environment with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Must be capable of interpreting instructions and preparing required documentation including drafting of correspondence, pleadings, various litigation documentation and preparation of accounts.
  • Administrative duties such as managing email/calendar accounts, scheduling meetings, appointments, travel arrangements, etc.
