Based in Nisku, our client is a leader in their market within the gas compression industry. The organization is a dynamic company with operations across Western Canada with a customer-first focus and a team based culture. They are looking for a Financial Analyst to join their team and be responsible for overall day-to-day financial analysis and planning to drive the operations as well as providing strategic insight to the management team.
Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller the key aspects of the position are to drive high quality data and financial analysis around the business strategy, operational improvement initiatives, analytics and reporting. As you further your career you are looking to act as a key business partner and will provide financial leadership with an operationally-focused approach and to make value-added process improvements and recommendations. The ideal candidate will have the technical planning and analytical experience, a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other departments, and leadership experience in proposing initiatives that drive profitability.
Drives the annual budget and business planning process, including partnering with executive leadership, branch management and sales team to set metrics/targets to effectively run the business
Analyzes operating budgets and financial results (including working closely with field management) to identify trends and activities driving those results and makes recommendations on potential changes, both operational and financial in nature, to improve performance
Provides comprehensive financial advice and expertise in running the day-to-day business
Prepares and assists in presentation of periodic financial and operational reports, financial "what if" scenarios, strategic plans/initiatives, cash flow projections and ad hoc reports to senior management and board of directors
Establishes KPIs and creates reporting to measure progress and drive transparency around operational improvement initiatives
Prepares monthly sales forecasts and weekly sales quoting reports
Prepares financial comparisons and explanations of actual and budget/forecast variances
Identifies value creation opportunities through improved pricing strategy, cost management and net working capital improvement opportunities
The Ideal Candidate:
University Degree in business or related field, AND a professional accounting designation with 4 years of experience, or an equivalent combination
Exposure to private equity or transaction advisory services would be an asset
Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
Advanced proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheet programs and applications
Expertise in gathering data, compiling the proper information, and preparing financial reports
Knowledge of accounting systems, budgets, and internal controls
Able to perform moderate to complex account reconciliations
Must possess a high level of moral judgment for handling confidential information and monetary transactions
Strong diplomatic, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
Excellent teamwork and team building skills
Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
