David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit a Senior Buyer based in Edmonton, AB.


Our South Edmonton distribution client is seeking a seasoned Supply Chain professional to join their team as a Senior Buyer. This is a position offers the opportunity to improve efficiency of the purchasing department as well as mentor other purchasers. The ideal candidate comes from a similar high volume distribution environment with expertise in forecasting inventory needs. 
 
The Role:

  • Create and maintain vendor relationships
  • Strong ability to prioritize, produceand expedite purchase orders as needed
  • Develop and utilize RFP and RFQ documentation and negotiate with vendors directly
  • Source new suppliers both locally and internationally
  • Place orders within established standards and approved suppliers
  • Negotiating the best possible value for all goods and services by obtaining the most economical pricing
  • Expedite, monitor and trace progress of products in transits
  • Manage and maintain inventory and costs in the ERP system
  • Adjust inventory in different levels as needed
  • Develop process efficiencies through lean practices
  • Assist with inventory control to analyze data to optimize inventory turns and reduce and eliminate any obsolete materials

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A minimum of 5+ years Procurement related work experience
  • Bachelor of Commerce degree with Supply Chain major or SCMP designation would be an asset
  • Prior experience leading and mentoring a team
  • Previous experience with purchasing, logistics, expediting and inventory control
  • Attention to detail is critical
  • Computer skills with preference in experience in ERP and MRP Systems, Microsoft Office Suite and advanced Excel skills
  • Execute decision making abilities based on cost effectiveness
  • Ability to multi task on various projects at the same time and manage the priorities
  • Excellent negotiation skills as well as interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
