David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client a leading supplier of engineering, equipment and materials for high-temperature processes in mineral processing, petrochemical, refineries, and many other industrial facilities, to recruit for a Sales/Applications Engineer.

This position will support the sales team in generating proposals and providing requested information from Clients to identify and service business opportunities.

The Role:

  • Travelling to meet with customers to discuss their needs for new or replacement equipment.
  • Discussing engineered solutions to meet the customer’s needs “on the spot”.
  • Preliminary engineering and estimating of combustion related products and systems.
  • Writing technical and commercial proposals for the supply of custom engineered products.
  • Account management, follow-up correspondence.
  • Reading and understanding of commercial terms and conditions of sale.
  • Review technical specifications.
  • Interface with Fabrication Shops and equipment sub vendors.
  • Assists the Business Development Manager in all aspects of planning and implementing the business activities of the department as required by the Business Development Manager.
The Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Strong charismatic personality, complemented by exceptional language skills and facility articulating ones ideas in a clear manner.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in one’s respective field.
  • A motivated and proven self-starter capable of managing customer accounts.
  • Interest in Market research and business development.
  • Creative thinking and marketing knowledge for branding and development of new products.
  • Interest in cost engineering and continuous economic improvement of engineered products.
  • Ability to think quickly in discussion with other technical people.
  • Exposure and working knowledge of process equipment such as valves, pumps and motors.
  • Exposure and working knowledge of mechanical fabrication of piping systems, pressure vessels, and general metallurgical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of local (CSA) and international electrical codes and safety standards. (NFPA, IEC etc.).
  • Knowledge of typical combustion instruments and equipment; such as burners, manual and automated valves, regulators, fans/blowers, and similar devices.
  • Knowledge of combustion system codes and standards such as NFPA, CSA and FM.
