David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit for a Purchasing Agent to fill a 3 Month Contract.

The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for ensuring the timely and effective flow of inventory, in alignment with the company and departmental objectives.

The Role:

  • Monitor, create, and analyze day to day creation of replenishment and manual purchase orders using a variety of replenishment & purchase order systems to effectively flow inventory for assigned vendors optimizing in-stock and executing effective inventory flow adjusting to sales fluctuations and keeping within set inventory budgets.
  • Research and investigate out of stocks and implement corrective action.
  • Determine best solutions for flowing merchandise to meet inventory targets.
  • Responsible for availability at DC and branch level.
  • Analyze reports daily to identify issues that impact in-stock/inventory.
  • Communicate stock availability issues to inventory planning team as well as category management/sourcing group.
  • Collaborate with Logistics and Vendors to resolve DC problem freight and non-compliance issues where required.
  • Review replenishment strategies with our suppliers to ensure that they meet expectations on in-stock and inventory targets.
  • Review all DC Forecasts / Action Forecasting Exceptions.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Post-Secondary education in Business Administration or related field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years related experience in purchasing/buying.
  • CSCMP (Certified Supply Chain Management Professional) Certification is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Syntax and WMS High Jump is an asset.
  • Distribution/Supply chain experience is an asset.
  • Proficiency using a variety of Microsoft Office applications including: Excel, Outlook & Access.
  • Working knowledge of purchasing, warehouse and inventory control policies, processes and procedures.
  • The ability to adapt to change and self-awareness.
  • Fluency in both French and English would be an asset.
