Our client is a vertically integrated Alberta based cannabis company that is building a production facility in Southern Alberta and is opening retail stores throughout the province. With its headquarters located in Calgary, they are looking for excellent individuals to join our team.  The Public Relations Coordinator will increase engagement, grow brand awareness and strengthen affinity across all platforms. The ideal candidate will be a social media expert with a proven track record of driving performance and inspiring brand loyalty. 

Responsibilities:
  • Promote company image, market position, and financial status to clients, customers, service providers and members of the industry and community
  • Act as chief spokesperson on behalf of the organization to media and all external groups 
  • Devise creative public relations strategies that fit our goals and objectives 
  • Approve press releases and assist with writing, speeches, statements or presentations for senior management as needed
  • Advise senior management on public relations issues and act as spokesperson for organization regarding the media and community at large 
  • Manage social media content, running campaigns and advertisements, print publications and digital interfaces 
  • Assist marketing and branding team with various marketing-driven initiatives 
  • Design and implement a social media strategy that grows and evolves and reaches our target audience
  • Promote positive relationships and build and maintain a powerful reputation through clear and consistent two-way communication 
  • Provide market insights to the management team, including financial trends, shareholder concerns, competitor actions, and anything that might impact the company 
  • Advise company on handling sensitive public issues to preserve reputation 
  • Assess opportunities for sponsorships and other partnerships and manage relationships 
  • Analyze results of PR campaigns and prepare reports 

Skills/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations or a related field
  • 3+ years of PR experience with responsibility for content marketing, social media marketing, or digital marketing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills, with the ability to craft powerful and engaging messages that inspire others 
  • Ability to build strong relationships with key people or organizations 
  • A creative mind partnered with the ability to find the best practical solutions 
  • Proven experience in coordinating and managing effective PR campaigns through various channels 
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with social media (blogs, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) 
  • Positive flexible attitude, and the ability to adapt to a rapidly evolving industry while juggling competing demands
  • Knowledge of the cannabis industry is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and willingness to travel occasionally to various locations within Alberta.
  • Criminal check is required for this role!
