David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client, a supplier of custom manufactured components for the Energy and Petro-Chemical Industries, to recruit a Project Manager based in Niagara Falls, Ontario. This position offers a competitive compensation plan with an opportunity for growth.


The successful candidate will have a proven project management background, familiar with procurement strategies, and shall have fundamental knowledge of contract/business law. This role will also require in-depth knowledge of the ASME Section III Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code as well as a strong mechanical engineering background.


The Role:

  • Review and negotiation of customer POs and contracts; regular customer progress reporting.
  • Preparation and negotiation of Change Orders.
  • Strategic supplier identification and sourcing.
  • Review and understand technical data in order to issue RFPs to suppliers.
  • Review supplier proposals and justify supplier selection.
  • Draft, negotiate and manage contracts, and supply schedules for ultimate approval by the General Manager.
  • Coordinate schedules with production and continuously evaluate supplier performance, taking corrective action as required.
  • Prepare all contracts as required for approval by the Management team, QA, and the Engineering Manager.
  • Control, improve, develop and source new suppliers as required.
  • Active contract and supply chain risk management responsibilities.
  • Preparation and review of technical documentation.
  • Production scheduling
  • Equipment sourcing
  • Cost control and continuous pursuit of cost reduction plans.
  • Participate in the design and sourcing of equipment and fixtures.
  • Plan and implement manufacturing production lines.
  • Participate in the management of the shop floor.
The Ideal Candidate: 
  • University education, preferably in Project Management or Engineering.
  • Experience with Z299.2 or ISO9001 QA programs.
  • 5 years of engineering related experience in the following fields;
  • Plant engineering
  • Machine design
  • Process flow
  • Welding; Machining
  • GD&T
  • CSA code experience is considered an asset.
  • ASME Section VIII is considered an asset.
  • ASME Section III is a requirement.
  • Full proficiency in the MS Office suite of software.
  • Experience working with the SolidWorks CAD platform and WPDM Vault data management solution is a necessity.
  • Effective in both verbal and written English language.
