David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit for a Project Engineer.

Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for  leading project design initiatives including assessing requirements and feasibility of new project initiatives and providing quotes on new business opportunities.

The Role:

  • As point of contact between the customer and the organization, is responsible for consulting with potential customers in order to assess requirements and feasibility of new products and businesses capabilities.
  • Responsible for completing quotes for new products on a timely basis.
  • Responsible for initial designs of new products and assure customer specifications are met.
  • Responsible for all aspects of project management on assigned projects including the creation of plans and resources including personnel, cost and time requirements.
  • Define project tasks and responsibilities on new projects.
  • As project leader, coordinate and communicate requirements with various departments on the complete goals of new projects.
  • Responsible for outlining timelines on new projects and for assuring projects remain on track.
  • Coordinate prototyping and testing of new project products in conjunction with the customer.
  • Source new vendors and new components and/or materials applicable to the design of new products.
  • Oversee and Implement testing and training of new tooling for production lines and observes initial production startup to verify integrity of process.
  • Participates in the set-up and commissioning of new tooling.
  • Revise existing products and prepare engineering drawings as required.
  • Trouble shoots production line issues and quality issues as required.
  • Participates in cross-functional team activities and meeting as required and assigned.
  • Maintains the integrity of the departmental TS-16949 requirements and continuous improvement activities by effective day-to day implementation of procedures.
The Ideal Candidate:

  • Required – B.Sc in Engineering, Preferred – P.Eng status, Mechanical Engineer.
  • Required – 2-3 years manufacturing and/or design experience, Preferred – Experienced in Quoting, Project Management.
  • 5 years manufacturing and/or design experience.
  • Design experience within an OEM environment (automotive).
  • TS-16949 system experience.
  • Strong Project Management skills.
  • Able to read & design drawings.
  • Mechanically and electrically inclined.
  • Proficient in CAD and/or Solid Works.
  • Proficient or ability to learn Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
