David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client, a leading manufacturer of diversified processing, storing, mixing, packing, filling, palletizing and loading solutions, to recruit for a Production Supervisor, Wire Weaving in St. Catharines, Ontario.
Be accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the plant departments on a day to day basis of operation. As Supervisor you will lead, direct and supervise plant employees from the plant floor, to achieve company’s safety, quality, production, cost and on-time-delivery goals within the departments as assigned.
Lead safety performance for the employees and ensure workers remain both safe and in compliance.
Open plant at 6:30 am (meet with night shift when on 24-hour rotation) and ensure readiness.
Work closely with the Plant Manager, Customer Service Dept., PIC & Quality Controller to plan equipment outages.
Work required shifts and ensure the security of plant and grounds upon leaving.
Supervise Wire Weaving crews to ensure production targets are met.
Supervise Wire Weaving crews to ensure cost targets are met.
Supervise Wire Weaving crews to ensure quality targets are met.
Schedule, supervise and hold plant personnel accountable for their attendance, performance, and production.
Manage and input all timecard information into the payroll system daily.
Be vigilant, active and present in body and action in supervising plant activity from the floor.
Implement, maintain and elevate the 5-S Program throughout the cells.
Generate LEAN ideas on how to improve production results.
Ensure full efficient utilization of manpower and reassign from cell to cell when not required.
Provide Tools/ Resources to all work cells as required.
Ensure the orders are completed according to the Schedule(s) to be on time and expedite as necessary.
Communicate delays and production problems and offer alternatives.
Manage production and communicate progress to plant employees daily.
Actively manage the transfer of accountability between shifts and departments.
Solve and follow through on any plant related problems and rush orders.
Conduct and/ or organize training for plant employees as required.
Work in a safe manner adhering to all Company Health & Safety Policies and Legislated Regulations.
Be a member of the JHSC.
And all other duties as required.
The Ideal Candidate:
Post-Secondary education with a focus on Manufacturing/ Supervising/ Business or equivalent.
Six Sigma Green Belt with Lean Manufacturing or minimum of 5 years of equivalent work experience.
CPR/First Aid Certification as well as Health & Safety Certification (Part 1 & 2).
Must have experience working in a union shop.
Strong leadership, communication, and people skills.
Demonstrated ability to implement company policies, progressive discipline, coach and motivate staff.
