Are you seeking a role that will allow your career to grow? Our well-established food manufacturing client is expanding again! Based in North Edmonton, the Product Development Assistant is responsible for sourcing qualified suppliers that meet the highest standards possible as well as working daily with the internal supply chain team to optimize production.
  
The Role: 

  • Research, source and transfer new ingredients opportunities to Development and Supply Chain teams
  • Responsible for maintaining up to date documentation of prospective new ingredients and data analysis to support product specs
  • Stays current and aware of market and industry trends by researching novel technologies to drive future projects
  • Regularly reach out to new and current suppliers to inquire about trends and innovation
  • Work and collaborate with suppliers to develop new product technologies 
  • Provide support to the Research Department on specific product needs
  • Actively participate and contribute to ongoing projects driven by the Innovation team
  • Benchtop testing of new products to assess functionality
 The Ideal Candidate: 

  • 2+ years related supply chain or food manufacturing experience
  • Food science or scientific background would be an asset
  • Strong understanding of ingredient functionality and food chemistry, analysis, and manufacturing would be an asset
  • Experience in product development and/or sourcing raw materials
  • Previous experience with vendor relations would be an asset 
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must work well independently and on teams
  • Strong understanding of HACCP, ISO, or other food safety processes & systems
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
