The Plant Manager has the overall responsibility for production, operational excellence and maximizing organizational growth and profitability.  

The Role:

  • Foster a culture where safety is a core value in daily operation and strive towards an accident-free workplace
  • Manage all production activities to ensure production metrics are being met
  • Ensure all established costs, quality and delivery commitments are met
  • Administer policies and procedures to promote an environment of efficiency, safety, continuous improvement and engage team members while supporting strategic goals  
  • Ensure that products have been manufactured in compliance with the company quality specifications
  • Drive and promote a learning organization that is capable of building, acquiring, transferring and utilizing expertise to meet and exceed business goals
  • Provide employee coaching and development with a special focus on the supervisory team
  • Oversee maintenance supervisor to ensure plant and equipment are maintained 
  • Resolve employee issues through problem resolution and involving corporate group as necessary
  • Organize and preside over daily meetings with all departments
  • Be present on the shop floor in order to be accessible to all hourly employees. 
  • Work with HR to help coordinate all health and safety policies and procedures in the plant
  • Understand and apply union contract and be part of negotiations when contract is to be renewed
  • Ensure that all company policies such as health and safety, human resources, quality control and production efficiency are in line with the company guidelines.
  • Develop, implement and maintain all OSHA required safety programs 
  • Ensure compliance with legal, legislative and corporate safety requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve critical business objectives
  • Review capital budget and any new equipment acquisition
  • Promote continuous improvement program 
  • Perform other duties as required 
The Ideal Candidate:

  • Must have at least 15 years’ experience managing in a manufacturing environment
  • A proven track record of effective development, communication and implementation of complex strategies for products, processes, people and policy
  • Undergraduate university degree preferably in the field of  Engineering  
  • Demonstrated leadership,  interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, professionalism and reputation for accountability and integrity 
  • Ability to make and sustain excellent interpersonal relationships at all levels of the organization 
  • Experience directly managing P&L
  • Track record of implementation and execution utilizing Lean and Continuous Improvement concepts and strategies
  • Strong written, verbal and computer skills
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed the physical requirements of the facility’s working conditions
