David Aplin Group is working with one of their great clients to find a Plant Controller for their operations. This client is an international giant and is one of the top producers in their field. 

Summary Description:

The Plant Controller will be responsible for all finance and accounting aspects of the plant, partnering with the plant management team in successfully managing the manufacturing operations and meeting financial objectives. Key areas of focus for the Plant Controller include monthly performance analysis, budget and forecast development, and support and analysis of cost reduction initiatives.  

Responsibilities:
 
  • Month-end closing responsibilities, including reporting and reviewing departmental variances to prior year, budget and forecast for the plant management team
  • Analyzing and reporting manufacturing cost variances
  • Preparing detailed monthly forecasts for the full year based upon the production drivers and key performance metrics at the plant
  • Fixed asset control and reconciliation
  • Managing the capital project process at facility
  • Annually reviewing and auditing of internal control procedures (TRACE)
  • Preparing and developing the annual plant budget, including developing standards and updating the standards and period     expense budgets in SAP
  • Supporting the plant in generating and quantifying cost savings opportunities and supporting management with the World Class Manufacturing initiatives
  • Leading the coordination of all plant internal and external financial and operational audits and addressing any audit     findings with plant and divisional leadership
  • Responding quickly and accurately to customer requests
  • Prepare consolidated Weekly Flash (Forecast) for the Total Plant
  • Assist in the development/revision (Annually & periodically as required) and implement of new standard costs 
  • Prepare monthly Balance Sheet Account reconciliation
  • Lead the Annual Budget Planning Process
  • Lead the process of preparing budget, analyze, and evaluate monthly operational financial performance
  • Perform weekly and monthly cost analysis on plant operations
  • Work with Information Systems and Plant Operations to improve the quality and usefulness of cost data and to revise the process to incorporate changes resulting from WCM Manufacturing activities
  • Provide support for company improvement objectives, such as WCM Cost Deployment manufacturing activities, inventory costing, and management, cycle count accuracy, cost management, quality improvement, etc.
  • Assist with annual internal and external audits including planning, accumulating information, and preparing results to audit questions
  • Enhance and maintain internal controls
  • Supervise the performing of physical inventories and summarizing results, along with assisting in the RCA and     Implementing Corrective Actions
  • Work with manufacturing to maintain the accuracy with quantities and cost integrity for the production inventories
  • Coordinate HR related financial information as required, including submission of data to the corporate payroll operations coupled with maintaining proper accrual analysis on payroll accounts such as vacation, medical insurance, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
  • 5 -7 years of related accounting experience
  • 5 years of experience as a plant controller or cost accounting role in product manufacturing
  • Demonstrated ability to link and analyze plant operational metrics to financial performance
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to share knowledge at different levels of the company
  • Customer focused with strong attention to detail
  • Proven leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Graduate degree and/or certification
  • SAP and HRIS experience would be an asset
