David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit a Payroll Administrator, Remote based from Edmonton, AB.
 
Our client, located in the Great soon to be White North, is looking for a Senior Payroll Administrator for a 6 month contract with an immediate start. This role is remote, so you will be provided with the tools to be able to work from home. As you are reporting to the Payroll Manager remotely, you'll need to be dedicated and able to stay on track. This is a busy team that needs a motivated team player to help move the team along with their new systems and processes!

The Role:

  • Complete full cycle payroll processing on an in-house system for a minimum volume of 500 employees
  • Establish payroll records for employees and prepare appropriate documentation Liaise with the Human Resources Department to ensure that payroll records are current and correct
  • Collect, process and verify payroll
  • Perform manual calculations of pay and appropriate deductions when required and reconcile discrepancies when detected
  • Maintain internal controls and documents related to payroll procedures
  • Process expense claims, corporate card statements and employee advancements while ensuring that all are properly authorized and adhere to company policies
  • Answer employee queries about the status of their expense claims and any other payroll issues on a timely basis
  • Perform other related duties as required
The Ideal Candidate:

  • Must commit for the entire 6 months of the contract
  • A Certificate in Business Administration
  • Completion of three of the required courses in the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) program
  • 5 years of recent work experience in a payroll department for a unionized workforce
  • Minimum of 1 years' accounting experience in a medium to large company with a strong knowledge of accounting and business practices and procedures
  • Has all WCB and Government remittances
  • Experience from multiple provinces would be considered an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
