Our client is seeking a Payroll Administrator to work in their corporate office in Vancouver. As a large producer of silver and gold producer, the organization has five precious metals mines in the North America employing over 2,000 people.

The Payroll Administrator will be responsible for administering payroll for 300 salaried and hourly payroll site employees as well as corporate office staff. Reporting to the Site Controller, this person will need to be prepared for the challenges that come with managing payroll for a rotational work scheduled 82 weeks on – 2 weeks off). Ensuring the site runs monthly variable production bonuses for hourly employees is essential. Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail are a must.


  • Process biweekly and monthly payrolls for 300+ employees
  • Manage time and attendance system, consulting with managers on discrepancies
  • Process new hires and terminations)
  • Tax reconciling
  • Create and distribute payroll reports to management
  • Take customer service-oriented approach to respond to requests and questions from employees and management (must be able to effectively prioritize phone calls, in person, and email inquiries while also completing regular tasks)
  • Assist in audits and special projects as needed

Required Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years’ experience in payroll, preferably with high volume, payroll for salaried and hourly staff
  • Familiarity with Oracle is ideal.
  • Working towards or completed PCP and CPM program 
  • Organized and able to prioritize and multitask; able to handle interruptions and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly professional and able to maintain confidentiality; handling all situations with tact
  • Intermediate skill in MS Office including Excel
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to build relationships with internal and external contacts
