David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit an Operations Manager based in Edmonton, AB. 

Our client, a notable provider of surface and subsea flow management systems, is seeking a self-motivated and experienced leader to join their team. Responsible for Purchasing, Warehouse/Receiving, Production and Shipping, this individual will provide direction and guidance to all departments by effectively communicating the goals and objectives set forth by Operations in Canada. The operations manager will work to identify process improvements and ensure that lean initiatives are developed and understood, while maintain operation expenditures, budgets and inventory management. The Role:
  • Ensure appropriate and relevant training for all departments is defined, developed, delivered and maintained
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing mindset within all departments
  • Ensure equipment and machinery are appropriately maintained
  • Maintain and secure all training and related employee files
  • Control Inventory and ensure that effective controls are in place to monitor turns and inventory levels
  • Prepare and control operational budgets
  • Responsible to hold weekly production meetings, including liaise with regional project personnel
  • Ensure that all Departments communicate to support continuous improvement processes and initiatives
  • Research new and alternative technologies to increase efficiency
  • Support the Sales Operation to expand and further develop the business

The Ideal Candidate:
  • Minimum 10 years of manufacturing management experience in oilfield or related manufacturing industry
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Manufacturing systems Engineering or similar
  • Strong background in supply chain/procurement, with international sourcing experience
  • Formal lean/process improvement training, coupled with experience dealing with change management, and behavioral change
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practice
  • Familiarity with the workings of ERP/MRP business systems
  • Superb communication and presentation skills
  • Results oriented, strategic and tactical coordination abilities
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
