The Role:

  • Motivate teams in working together towards achieving common goals. Define horizontal objectives with different teams, create change around those objectives, eliminate obstacles, and implement problem resolution tools in order for the plant to succeed in its mission
  • Work closely within the daily operations team, giving guidance to Shift Leaders, Warehouse and Maintenance as, and when needed
  • Promote a safe working environment
  • Promote compliance of legislation, and company policies
  • Close monitoring of daily, weekly and monthly performance indicators
  • Help prioritize actions and integrate best practices in daily operations
  • Work with the VP of Operations to develop strategies based on the site’s financial and operational evaluations, to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities
  • Supervise all elements related to the implementation of a culture encouraging continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives in close cooperation with the various people involved, across all functions within the business
  • Participate in developing capacity standards in order to maximize operational efficiency, identify bottleneck, and work to remove any road blocks
  • Make sure that appropriate performance follow up tools are implemented, resulting in actions with accountabilities; 5 Why’s / Root Cause Analysis
  • Supervise the implementation of operational KPIs in order to better control the key elements of operations
  • Evaluate Capital Expenditure projects, giving recommendations based on ROI
  • Project manage and implement processes related to cost reduction initiatives; including Capital Projects
  • Lead Maintenance Initiatives to improve the PM schedule, and reach a point of predictive maintenance, and some autonomous maintenance rolled out into production teams
  • Assist in the management of contractors, ensuring we get the best service
  • Implement a Lean manufacturing philosophy using maintenance programs based on reliability, 5S, Six Sigma, etc.
  • The role will include people management at times, and motivating people ongoing to deliver results
The Ideal Candidate:

  • 5-10 years of manufacturing experience (continuous improvement, production, maintenance) focused on performance management; ideally food manufacturing
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Business, Finance or college equivalent diploma
  • Previous experience leading Improvement Initiatives, projects incorporating 5S and Kanban methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead others
  • Logical, analytical and reasonable, with strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to foster and enhance relationships with the Leadership/Executive Team, and peers
  • Strong work ethic and passionate dedication to quality
  • Innovative problem-solving skills in both personnel and technical areas
  • Must have hands-on experience using Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement methods (LEAN, TPM, Six Sigma).
  • Experience leading Kaizen events focused on improving manufacturing production processes resulting in costs reduction
