Our client is looking for a Network Administrator to join their team in Edmonton. The Network Administrator will be a key participant of a high-performance team responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure.


The candidate needs to be a team player possessing excellent customer service and communication skills. You must also be able to demonstrate a high degree of initiative, enjoy problem-solving, have good organizational skills, be detail oriented, and have the flexibility to perform multiple tasks at once.


The Role:

  • Responsible for the overall planning, testing, deployment, maintenance and security of the network infrastructure systems (mixed of physical and virtual systems).

  • Evaluate and determine network infrastructure capacity requirements, managing change, executing rigorous testing, responding to escalated support requests, and implementing corrective action.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with the IT team members to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of organization services to meet business demands.

  • Ensures network infrastructure is functioning within pre-defined operating levels and manages all proactive tuning activities.

  • Actively monitors and analyzes system logs, stats, and controls, to ensure that systems remain at optimum efficiency and recommends changes where necessary

  • Support technical projects in the design and review of new systems, applications and hardware as well as a computer network.

  • Maintain technical documentation for the organization’s network environment including up-to-date records of hardware configurations, software licenses, maintenance agreements, network diagrams and maintenance operations.

  • Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.

  • Perform IT administrative duties as delegated.


The Ideal Candidate:

  • 5+ years of demonstrated hands-on experience supporting a large scale, mission critical large enterprise infrastructure.

  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP and communication protocols.

  • Knowledge of IPSec, GRE tunnels, and traffic load balancing techniques.

  • Solid working knowledge of Juniper and Palo Alto

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to interact effectively with executives, vendors and department staff.

  • Actively collaborates and pitches in when necessary to support team success

  • Able to work on multiple activities at the same time, organizing and prioritizing as needed to accomplish goals

  • Enables process improvement by stimulating ideas through discussion and collaboration

  • Experience with network monitoring and packet analysis tools

  • Knowledge of Windows system administration

  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux logging capabilities

  • Experience within a security/technical support environment using ticketing systems

  • Project management skills

  • Privacy, Security or Network certification (desirable)
