David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit a Manager, Procurement based in Edmonton, AB.  This position will be responsible for provide overall leadership, strategy and direction to the Procurement team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, this person will be working with Legal, Compliance and Enterprise Risk Management teams to maintain compliance and trade agreement obligations. 

The Role:

  • Coach and assist Procurement Specialists to resolve procurement or contract issues and negotiation.
  • Responsible for implementing process improvements with the Procurement department.
  • Manage the Procurement Reporting processes, including the development and analysis, for the quarterly and the annual reporting.
  • Cost control and continuous pursuit of cost reduction plans.
  • Support strategic procurement planning, manage competitive procurement, complete contract documentation and facilitate reviews, capture vendor and consultant checks and verification.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of procurement and contracting documentation, apply subject matter expertise and work with business to finalize documentation.
  • Provide guidance and direction to all departments regarding their procurement and contracting activities.
  • Contract negotiation and finalization activities.
  • Maintain working relationships with vendors and external contacts.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or similar field.
  • Proven leadership capabilities.
  • SCMP designation would be an asset.
  • Advanced level with Microsoft Office.
  • Results oriented, strategic and tactical coordination abilities.
  • Must be focused and attentive to details.
  • Experience in a public procurement would be an asset. 
  • Has superior organization and time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of best practices in procurement, vendor management and contract management.
  • Has an understanding of Contract Law.
