If you are a talented and experienced Junior Deskside Technician, David Aplin Group has partnered with an Ottawa, Ontario-based company for a 6-month contract with a strong possibility of extensions. The successful candidate will install, configure, move, set up, and provide ongoing support to all staff for desktop and laptop computers.
  • Perform hardware installation including monitors, cabling, peripherals, etc.
  • Wipe and image PCs (laptops and desktops)
  • Remove and dispose of hard drives
  • Perform analysis and document business and technical requirements
  • Provide second-level investigation and diagnosis for hardware and software issues
  • Install, move/set up, and provide ongoing support and troubleshooting assistance to all clients regarding computers (desktop, laptop, and/or peripherals), printers, office telephones, and wireless devices, such as cellphones
  • Provide deskside support for calls that cannot be resolved over the telephone or via remote management
  • Install and configure software
  • Resolve uncommon client issues (second-level issue resolution); analyze, resolve and document local/remote user technical issues and service requests in a timely manner and in compliance with information technology (IT) service procedures, including complex and software problems associated with the desktop, laptop PCs and peripherals
  • Provide technical problem-solving guidance and advice to users
  • Provide input in the creation and ongoing maintenance of a knowledge base on technical issues
  • Deliver high-quality customer service to users within service levels
  • Provide knowledge transfer to clients as required
  • Other activities and deliverables, as required
  • University degree or college diploma in a technology-related field
  • A minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated IT experience
  • The ability to acquire a Secret Security Clearance is required
  • Computer or laptop that meets the following specifications in order to access systems and applications remotely as required:
  • Windows 10 with version 20H2 or later or a Windows 11 device
  • Rights to install the software required for Virtual Desktop
  • Available USB A port
  • Highspeed internet connection
Additional Qualifications:
  • CompTIA A+ Certification
  • Demonstrated expert experience in executing incident and problem management
  • Demonstrated in-depth Microsoft knowledge, and experience in desktop and Office tool support
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft on-premises and Azure cloud applicants
  • Demonstrated understanding of troubleshooting Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) network environment
  • Being fluent in French would be considered an asset
