David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit a Interim Accountant based in Edmonton, AB. Our client is a large complex entity that is currently undertaking several key projects. As a result, there is a need for an additional accountant for 6 months contract to help in the financial reporting area.
Assisting with month end close including preparing journal entries and completing key reconciliations.
Preparing monthly and quarterly reports analyzing and explaining variances between actual, business plan, forecasts and prior periods.
Preparing audit schedules to assist internal and external auditors and ensuring compliance with internal controls.
Assisting in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Providing financial support to operational management and internal customers
Assisting in other reporting and account analysis as well as other ad hoc reports and projects as required.
The Ideal Candidate
A professional accounting designation
3-5 years of related experience and sound knowledge of accounting principles including IFRS.
Strong customer service skills with an ability to initiate and build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to work well in a team environment, coordinate with different levels of management in a large organization and consistently meet deadlines.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel.
Experience with a larger ERP system would be an asset.
