Join a top employer and advance your career. David Aplin Group has partnered with our client to recruit an Instructional Designer for a 1-year contract position. Reporting to the Manager of North American Operations Training, the successful candidate will be responsible for creating instructionally sound, engaging, and target-audience-appropriate learning solutions and activities such as system tutorials, e-learning courses, case studies, simulations, scenarios, and classroom-based lesson plans.
This is a hybrid role based in Toronto, and an opportunity to work with one of Canada’s leading companies.
  • Develop curriculum blueprint and collaborate with subject matter experts to outline goals, learning objectives, and media/learning asset requirements
  • Design curriculum for a variety of learning approaches (i.e., e-learning, m-learning, etc.)
  • Work with the facilitation team to develop job aids that support self-paced, tutorial, or classroom-based learning solutions
  • Develop learning assessments and evaluations, including writing corrective feedback and remedial tutorials
  • Design case studies and first-person simulations/branching scenarios
  • Develop curriculum using rapid e-learning tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Snag it, or other authoring tools
  • Work closely with project teams and subject matter experts to integrate content with design and development deliverables
  • Develop timelines for assigned projects and coordinate activities of other project team members
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management
  • Post-Secondary Education in adult education, instructional design, or learning required
  • CTDP Designation preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Instructional Design
  • Technologically competent, with a passion for web-based content development and design
  • Ability to write in various styles and formats (creative, editorial, marketing, and technical)
  • Proficiency in Articulate Storyline, and Adobe Captivate
  • Excellent organizational skills, high attention to quality, detail, and accuracy, combined with the ability to manage multiple high-priority tasks
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in a written context
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing work environment
  • Ability to work in a team environment and interface with different functions/team members
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications is required
  • Graphics, audio, and/or video production/editing skills are an asset
  • French/Spanish as a second language would be an asset
