This role will report directly to the HR Director of Canada and will be responsible for managing all day to day functions of Toronto facility.
Assesses internal policies, programs, and procedures, and informs employee and management on the interpretation of them, including the local CBA.
Labour relations – manage the relationship between management and the bargaining unit ensuring that the best interests of both parties are served.
Performs professional level human resources work and carries out responsibilities in the functional areas of performance management, recruiting, employee/labour relations, compensation, learning & development.
Performance Management – coordinate the performance review process to ensure timely completion.
Partners with Corporate Payroll in Canada and Total Rewards team in the US.
Analyzes and provides advice to supervisors and managers on methods and approaches to resolve employee relations issues and concerns.
Draft presentations to explain the purpose and goal and to seek compliance and understanding of human resources policies.
A minimum of three-five years similar previous experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
Adept at Employee Relations at all levels and conducting investigations to closure.
Strong analytical skills, possess excellent communication skills, and have an ability to delegate tasks and assignments through strong leadership skills.
Focused time management and organizational skills are necessary in this position. In addition, candidates should be solutions oriented, results-driven, career oriented and possess the ability to cultivate business relationships.
An understanding of safety, environmental and employment legislation are an asset.
Excellent computer skills – Microsoft Suite (Excel, Powerpoint etc.)
