David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit for a Human Resources Business Partner.$70,000 - $80,000 per annum + bonus.

The position will report directly to the Vice President of Human Resources. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of generalist experience in a manufacturing environment. You will have an excellent understanding of the Employment Standards Act, the Ontario Human Rights Code, WSIA, OHSA, Pay Equity, AODA and Health & Safety.

The Role:

  • Performs recruiting and selection function by developing and implementing policies and programs as necessary.  Selects and interviews candidates for identified competencies.  Conducts reference checking and ensures all internal and external hiring occurs with due regard to Ontario Human Rights requirements and best practices.
  • Performs employee relation function by conducting investigations and making recommendations.  The position is responsible for ensuring the culture of the location is in keeping with the culture of the Corporation.
  • Performs compensation and benefits function by implementing company policies and programs.  Participates in yearly salary surveys.  Reviews results with current pay scales for positions and makes recommendations for any changes.  Reviews benefit coverage and makes recommendations for changes.  Develops and reviews job descriptions for all positions.Ensures positions are identified with proper salary grade. Ensures progression increases occur per current scale.Answers employee questions regarding compensation (including group RRSP) and benefit coverage.  Administers employee changes with benefit providers.
  • Administers absenteeism program by reviewing absences on a regular basis and making recommendations for communication or discipline as necessary.Short term and long term disability management.
  • Oversees the health and safety program by ensuring all requirements are met per the Occupational Health and Safety Act and associated regulations, standards, best practices, etc.
  • Oversees performance of employees by ensuring annual performance appraisals are completed and tracked, recommending training as needs are identified.
