David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our customer to recruit a temporary IT help Desk support Specialist for their major projects.  Our customer requires someone who is a team player with a minimum of 2-4 years of experience. 

This opportunity starts immediately and is estimated to be a 1-3 contract with a HIGH chance of being a full time permanent position.

The Role:

  • provide day-to-day installation, configuration, and support of business systems and applications, networks system, and/or IT equipment
  • provide first response to client’s requests and answer questions about “how-to” use of business applications or network equipment
  • build and deploy custom windows OS images
  • clearly document all client interactions, and troubleshoot steps
  • communicate priorities and issues to internal business units to manage service levels
  • document support requests and cases in the IT ticketing system
  • follow up to ensure issues are completely resolved to the user’s satisfaction
  • identify and resolve software related problems; maintaining a sense of urgency and ownership while working to resolve calls
  • install and track computer, software assets, and peripherals in inventory
  • prepare monthly reports from the help desk system for management review
  • troubleshoot routine problems, determine the root cause, and resolve problems to prevent re-occurrence
  • administer and support antivirus updates on the IT service management console
  • monitor systems health, software licensing, application and software updates
  • responsible for support of VMWare clients applications and remote access services
  • remain current on related technologies and trends in security
The Ideal Candidate:

  • a post-secondary technical diploma in information systems or equivalent
  • 2 to 4 years’ of practical IT experience
  • 2 to 4 years’ in a customer focused role with a proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to problem solve in a tactful and professional manner
  • experience supporting customers/clients in a Microsoft enterprise environment
  • strong knowledge of Microsoft enterprise products such as Skype for Business, Outlook and other Microsoft Office products
  • Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDT) is preferred
  • experience with Windows deployment and update services
  • experience with administering VMWare environments
  • proficiency in supporting antivirus and enterprise encryption systems
  • knowledge of TCP/IP networks and best practices
  • experience with supporting mobile devices such as iPads, Surface Tablets, Androids, Windows and iOS smart phones
